As geopolitical tensions continue to reshape global trade, supply chains, investment patterns and energy flows, closer EU–Türkiye economic cooperation has never been more important.

On 2 July, the EU–Türkiye High-Level Business Dialogue, co-organised by Eurochambres and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) under the Türkiye–EU Business Dialogue II (TEBD II) project, took place in Istanbul, bringing together high-level representatives from the European Union, Türkiye, the business community and international financial institutions.

The event was attended by European Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis, Turkish Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, as well as leading business representatives and stakeholders engaged in EU–Türkiye economic relations. Discussions focused on how to further strengthen economic and investment ties between the two sides in a context marked by ongoing geopolitical and economic uncertainty, as well as evolving global trade dynamics.

Speakers underlined the importance of deepening cooperation to enhance competitiveness, resilience and sustainable growth. Particular emphasis was placed on the need to reinforce dialogue between public authorities and the private sector in order to address shared challenges and unlock new opportunities for businesses on both sides.

Eurochambres CEO Ben Butters underlined the need to turn dialogue into action: “By focusing on shared goals such as innovation, regulatory simplification, connectivity and sustainable growth, we can strengthen economic ties and open new opportunities for companies in both markets.”

Building on more than twenty years of structured cooperation between Eurochambres and TOBB, the TEBD II project continues to serve as a key platform for practical collaboration between European and Turkish chambers of commerce. Through its activities, the project supports businesses, strengthens the capacity of chambers, and contributes to the development of a more competitive, resilient and sustainable EU–Türkiye economic partnership.
