The Sustainable Growth Support Programme was designed to strengthen the capacity of Turkish Chambers and Commodity Exchanges to advise their members on sustainability. As sustainability becomes a growing demand from consumers, markets and policy makers, this programme equips Chambers with technical knowledge, practical tools and good practices to lead local businesses through the green transition. By focusing on critical areas as Environmental, Social and Governance, resource efficiency, carbon emission reduction, climate and environmental risks, green washing the programme provides required information to help SMEs turn sustainability into a competitive advantage.  

 

The Sustainable Growth Support Programme was structured around different sub-activities: 

 

TEBD II Sustainable Growth Self-Assessment Tool  

This tool was developed specifically for Turkish business environment to help evaluate their sustainability potential and prepare for a successful transition. The tool is available in both English and Turkish and provides businesses with a diagnostic checklist to access their ESG knowledge and implementation. As of early August 2026, around 750 Turkish businesses have already engaged with the tool to map their sustainability road.  

 

Sustainable Growth Training Programme, Ankara, Türkiye 9–12 June 2026

In mid-June 2026, a four-day  in-person training session was organised in Ankara to strengthen the capacity of Turkish Chambers and Commodity Exchanges to help SMEs in transitioning to sustainable growth.  

The training gathered 24 chamber representatives from all over Türkiye, equipping them with practical knowledge, tools and methodologies to help businesses adopt sustainability, circular economy principles and resource-efficient practices.  

Delivered by sustainability experts from the European Union and Türkiye, the programme combined expert presentations, interactive sessions, practical exercises and peer-learning activities. Participants explored key topics including: 

Sustainable Growth, ESG principles and circular economy approaches; 

Resource Efficiency, climate adaption and carbon emission reduction; 

EU and Turkish sustainability legislation and reporting frameworks; 

Sustainability finance and funding opportunities; 

The introduction and practical application of the TEBD II SME ESG Self-Assessment Tool

Through this training, chamber representatives gained the knowledge and practical tools needed to guide SMEs in assessing their sustainability performance, identifying improvement opportunities and taking concrete steps towards greener and more competitive business models. 

 

Webinar Sustainable Growth Opportunities for Turkish SMEs, 13 July 2026 
 
On July 13th, the TEBD II project held an online webinar on the topic of “Sustainable Growth Opportunities for Turkish SMEs”. The event served to guide Turkish businesses through green transition policies, drawing approximately 320 live attendees. The webinar brought together 7 key speakers and policy experts representing European business associations, Turkish ministries, regulatory bodies and TEBD II leadership. 

The event highlighted key capacity-building efforts, such as the TEBD II self-assessment sustainability tool tailored for Turkish businesses, the Turkish Green Taxonomy Regulation, Turkish Sustainability Reporting Standards (TSRS), and the regulatory provisions for Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).  

 

Final Report (with Findings & Recommendations)

Build on the data collection from approximately 750 Turkish companies, a comprehensive final report was produced. The report provides key insights from capacity building trainings, methodology and data analysis of the private sector sustainability readiness. It also outlines concrete policy recommendations and action plan to help Turkish chambers and commodity exchanges, institutions and stakeholders to further drive sustainability in Türkiye.
