2025 TEBD II Investment Forum

April 8, 2025

Turkiye Investement Platform gathered on 8th of April 2025 in Istanbul. Organized under the Türkiye-EU Business Dialogue II (TEBD II) Project, funded by the European Union and implemented jointly by Eurochambres and TOBB, the forum aimed to enhance Türkiye’s investment climate. It focused on leveraging EU-supported financial mechanisms, fostering collaboration with International Financial Institutions (IFIs), and promoting engagement between public and private sector stakeholders.

In his opening remarks, Tamer Kıran highlighted the significance of strengthening economic ties between Türkiye and the European Union, stating:

"Our strong partnership positions us as natural collaborators in advancing competition and innovation across both Türkiye and the EU. Instruments such as the Türkiye Investor Forum financing mechanism help build a more entrepreneurial ecosystem, benefiting both sides. We greatly value the ongoing collaboration between Turkish authorities and the European Commission. In today’s evolving global trade environment, we have a unique opportunity to further deepen our economic relations. It is essential that we continue to work together with speed and dedication to seize this potential."

The forum also featured speeches from Ben Butters, CEO of Eurochambres; Ambassador Thomas Ossowski, Head of the EU Delegation to Türkiye; Kerem Dönmez, Director General for Foreign Economic Relations at the Ministry of Treasury and Finance; and Gert-Jan Koopman, Director General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENEST) at the European Commission.

During the event, three main panel sessions addressed connectivity projects in Türkiye, public investment priorities, and collaborative models between the public and private sectors.

Additionally, a signing ceremony took place for the €20 million “Better Futures Programme,” with Gert-Jan Koopman and Wiebke Schlömer, IFC Türkiye-Central Asia Director, formalizing the allocation.

Closing remarks were delivered by Serdar Öztürk, Deputy Director General for Financial Cooperation and Project Implementation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, alongside Gert-Jan Koopman.

Hosted by TOBB, the forum marked a significant step toward more structured and comprehensive economic engagement between Türkiye and the European Union.
