
The first EU-Türkiye Economy High-Level Business Dialogue since 2019 took place in Brussels on 3 April. Along with other EU and Turkish business representatives, Eurochambres’ CEO, Ben Butters, and TOBB President, Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu,engaged in a constructive discussion with European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity Valdis Dombrovskis, Commissioner for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood, Marta Kos, and Turkish Minister of Finance, Mehmet Şimşek. Held as part of the Türkiye-EU Business Dialogue II (TEBD II) project, the business roundtable conveyed a strong signal of both sides’ intention to foster cooperation on investment and competitiveness.
Also as part of the project, over 80 participants gathered in Istanbul on 8 April for the “TEBD II Investment Forum: Türkiye Investment Platform", sparking insightful discussions and fostering valuable connections. The event aimed to accelerate investment initiatives in Türkiye by leveraging EU financial mechanisms, fostering collaboration and strengthening engagement with public and private stakeholders. During the event, a €20 million agreement was signed between the International Finance Corporation and the European Commission to deepen economic collaboration between the EU and Türkiye. Eurochambres CEO, Ben Butters, highlighted the role of the chamber network in strengthening ties between the two sides: "We are building bridges to unlock opportunities across green technologies, digital transformation, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, finance, and beyond”.
