Based on energy audits of 254 Turkish SMEs carried out by 24 Energy Efficiency Ambassadors from Turkish chambers and commodity exchanges under the Türkiye-EU Business Dialogue II (TEBD II)

The report finds that:

  • 85% of SMEs expect energy costs to rise significantly, and 78% plan new efficiency measures

  • Only 23% have had an energy audit in the past four years

  • 86% lack any building energy certification, and merely 6% hold an ISO 50001 certification.

The report also sets out 13 recommendations, including restructuring eligibility thresholds, repositioning energy audits and establishing an “Energy Efficiency Help Desks”.

We will present the results on 16 November at 10 am at COP31 in Antalya, during our panel “Bridging the SME Decarbonisation Gap: Practical Solutions for Green Industrialisation”.
